As you may or may not know the pocket square and ties should never match but complement each other. I know some people might be thinking but if the tie and pocket square are matching then it is absolutely no brainer and I can not make any mistakes! No. This is incorrect thinking. The art of dressing sophisticated is selecting good quality clothing well and wearing it with an air of nonchalance. This goes for the very detail too such as colours, patterns and so forth.
The image above is a good example of how you might wear a purple tie with a pocket square by allowing the colour of the pocket square's secondary colour align itself with the base colour of the tie. The base colour of the pockets square is a contrast colour, which does not match at all and this gives the combination a striking visual interest. Also note that the patterns are different too, the tie's pattern is much more spacious in comparison to the pocket square's design. Menswear is all about the details my friends.
